Ali Afnan
is a renowned expert in pharmaceutical quality and process validation. During his tenure at the FDA, he was instrumental in developing the Process Analytical Technology (PAT) initiatives and co-authored the PAT Guidance. His work significantly impacted the field of drug product quality. After leaving the FDA, Dr. Afnan founded Step Change Pharma, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in pharmaceutical manufacturing excellence, offering services such as product registration and compliance remediation for biologics and small molecules.
Dr. Afnan’s career began at ICI Engineering and later at AstraZeneca, where he led the pioneering implementation of a PAT framework for a solid dosage facility, the first of its kind in the industry. Professor Shanchen (Sean) Xia
has held a wide range of prominent positions in the business and legal field in New York and California, USA, and in the P.R. of China. He was an Attorney-at-law and Senior Adviser with Dacheng-Dentons Law Offices. Professor Xia is registered with the New York Supreme Court and in the State Bar of California as a Foreign Legal Consultant (China). He has published several theoretical monographs and translation works. He was rewarded with his master’s degree in International Economic Law from Dalian Maritime University and a doctoral degree in Business Administration from Business School Netherlands.
Jalia Dash, B.S.
has worked as a Researcher at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Brain and Mind Research Institute, where she designed and executed experiments in neurodegenerative disease, including ALS. She also taught biology in Southeast Asia, translating complex scientific concepts into accessible lessons for diverse learners. In addition, she volunteers with community-supported agriculture programs, coordinating seasonal produce distribution and contributing to initiatives that connect local food systems with communities.
