Xunhua Zhang Bio

Master Xunhua Zhang, Chairman and founder of World Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection and Development Foundation, Inc. (WICHPDF).

Master Zhang founded this USA-based non-profit after he immigrated to the USA from China.  Due to his extraordinary abilities and achievements, Master Zhang was granted the “Extraordinary Ability” (EB-1A) Green Card, one of the most difficult and rarest green cards granted in the USA.  The applicant must be able to prove that they have extraordinary ability, possess a level of expertise placing them at the very top of their field, and are both nationally and internationally recognized.  Master Zhang was awarded his Extraordinary Ability, Green Card, in 2017.

Master Zhang came from a family that is deeply rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine.  He is a 13th-generation Taiyi Master and has four decades of experience in treating and practicing Taiyi. He is one of China’s treasures with deep knowledge and insight into the ancient Chinese text, Huangdi Neijing.  Huangdi Neijing is the most important ancient text in Chinese medicine as well as a major book of Daoist theory and lifestyle.  Master Zhang is one of the few practitioners utilizing the healing methods from the ancient Chinese Remedies laid out in the Huangdi Neijing. Moreover, he received additional training at Shaolin Monastery where he learned the synergy of martial arts with Huangdi Neijing.

China now leads all countries with 42 officially recognized “intangible cultural heritages.”  The Chinese government recognized Master Zhang’s contribution to Traditional Chinese Medicine by officially appointing him as the Representative Inheritor of Intangible Cultural Heritage of China Taiyi Quan and Intangible Cultural Heritage of China Taiyi Qi Acupuncture. With the honor of this title, he joined a high-level talents continuing education program for four years, offered by three of China’s best universities.  

Master Zhang has held high-level positions at numerous medical institutes and companies and has been teaching at internationally-renowned institutions for over 20 years. He has been rewarded seven National Invention Patents and 29 other patents and has published three academic theses. He changed Taiyi culture by combining Chinese holistic medicine with state-of-the-art technology. For the past decade alone, Master Zhang was granted multiple honorary titles and has been recognized by government entities in China and the US with multiple rewards.

Now residing in New York City, Master Zhang launched WICH to further educate the global community about the need to protect and preserve ancient Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage and to expand the scope to embrace Intangible Cultural Heritage worldwide.
